AudioRob speaks out about his new creation (taken from gwtw-kites forum)
Source: http://gwtw-kites.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=34018 That's right, the Spike has a new incarnation :) Some nice changes as well as change to 2 standoffs per side, new panel layout, new tensioning system and variable standoff positions. Mohawk/Spike XS both have adjustable leech lines now allowing variability between very deep loud noise to completely silent.
The panel layout is largely based off the Mohawk XS' with some evident differences. There's been about a dozen folks who've had a chance to fly one, maybe they'll chime in (thought I don't know who of which is on GWTW).
This is Spike XS #1 which Chris Taylor should be enjoying on monday :)
If you've flown the older spike model, somethings that are improved/changed: - More pull, still consistant across wide range of winds. - Easier backspins - Better turning radius - Much improved flatspins. 540's, taz machines, slot machines are flat and floaty. - Will properly wapdowap now - Comete is much more 'familiar' given same inputs as most modern kites
Some things that have stayed very much the same: - Deep turtle, easy multilazy/cynique and 2 pop rollup in all (reasonable) winds. - Snappy landings - Wide wind range - Very stable tracking (leech line loose) - Easy taz machine and multi-slots and a graphic you can colour if you wish
Brand new, much nicer and informative website should be coming soon with full information on the new Mohawk/Spike XS and the Acetylene/Arclite. Don't forget to check the video too! Views: 904
